As your current chair, I look forward to the opportunity to serve another term for the Digital Publishers Council. In this role, I aim to continue strengthening the position of the DPC within the organization. This includes increasing opportunities for our members, working with the rest of our council leadership to organize events, and being a voice for DPC within the society.

Rachelle Lucas (Running Unopposed for First Vice Chair)

I am excited to run for the position of First Vice Chair of the Digital Publishers Council (DPC). With a background in digital publishing spanning over 16 years, I am eager to bring my experience, insights, and enthusiasm to this role.

Since 2008, I have immersed myself in the world of online digital publishing. First, while blogging as an innkeeper to share recipes and stories of our town to entice travelers to book longer stays at our inn. Then, as a food and travel writer for VisitFlorida.com as their Dining Insider, and a writer and publisher for my own site, TheTravelBite.com.

My journey began at a time when digital content was just starting to gain traction. Over the years, I have witnessed and adapted to the rapid evolution of the industry, from the rise of social media platforms to the shift towards mobile-first content. This experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of the challenges that digital publishers face today.

Throughout my career, I have successfully navigated the complexities of content creation, audience engagement, and monetization. I have also completed numerous successful digital campaigns, leveraging my skills in SEO, and social media marketing. These efforts have given me a well rounded perspective on what it takes to thrive in the digital publishing landscape.

As First Vice Chair of the DPC, I am committed to using my experience to benefit our community. And I am excited to help organize a range of events and opportunities for our digital publishers. From casual meetups where members can share experiences and challenges to more structured, paid campaigns.

I am committed to ensuring that our events add tangible value to our members. Whether it’s through learning new skills, discovering new tools, or making valuable connections, I look forward to working closely with the council to brainstorm and implement initiatives that foster a supportive and proactive community.

Thank you for your support.

Marlynn Jayme Schotland (Running Unopposed for Second Vice Chair)

As a longtime media professional working in digital media for 20+ years, I am excited to run for the position of Second Vice Chair of the Digital Publishers Council. In this position, I would be honored to serve as the DPC representative on SATW’s Professional Development committee. I will enthusiastically utilize my media experience, connections, and programming skills to provide high level content that will help SATW members in all levels of publishing.

In addition to publishing UrbanBlissLife.com for the past 20 years, I have also worked as a broadcast television, radio, and print journalist, as well as running a digital media agency and public relations agency. During my professional career, I launched one of the first professional organizations for mom entrepreneurs in the United States and was responsible for all of the professional programming, including conferences, trade shows, and regular professional development meetings. This experience also led me to serve as the President of an international women’s organization, where I successfully recruited hundreds of new members and also created and executed a strong local professional development program.

I would be honored to bring those experiences and skill sets to serving the SATW DPC in the Second Vice Chair role, and supporting the DPC committee in its goals for the coming year.
