Jamestown Settlement and the new American Revolution Museum at Yorktown
Jamestown Settlement and the new American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, two Williamsburg area living-history museums, offer compelling year-round experiences through films, immersive gallery exhibits and interactive living history in outdoor settings that engage visitors in the story of America’s beginnings. At the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, stories of citizens and soldiers of the Revolution unfold in gallery exhibits and films, including the “Siege of Yorktown” experiential theater, and in re-creations of a Continental Army encampment and Revolution-era farm. At Jamestown Settlement, gallery exhibits and films chronicle 1600s Virginia in the context of its Powhatan Indian, English and African cultures, complementing outdoor re-creations of a Powhatan Indian village, three 1607 ships, and a 1610-14 fort. A special yearlong exhibition, “TENACITY: Women in Jamestown and Early Virginia” explores captivating and little-known personal stories of the women in Jamestown and the Virginia colony and runs from November 10 2018 to January 5, 2020.
